On Thursday, August 9th, St. Croix Chocolate Company welcomes Chef Gerard Klass, who will bring his hiphop beat and satisfying soul food to Marine on St. Croix.

Chef Gerard is a rising force in the Twin Cities food scene, often doing pop-ups while preparing to open a restaurant with his wife, Brittney. His love for cooking came from his parents and grandparents, and reflects the influences of his West Indian and African American background. 

“We have taken the Sunday dinners and summer cookouts at grandma’s house we grew up on, and fused that experience with our professional restaurant knowledge and urban hip hop swagger to create ‘neo soul-food’,” he said about their culinary approach.

Chef Gerard attended Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Minneapolis and is currently Regional Chef for Kaskaid Hospitality.

Please join us for this fun and unusual opportunity to enjoy delicious, fresh food with an urban beat! Below is the menu for Chef Gerard’s visit to Marine:

* Black eyed pea hummus, corn bread crostini, pickled corn chow chow

* Watermelon salad, feta, mint, jalapeno 

* Smoked Fish Cake, red pepper slaw, jalapeño crema

* Chicken and Waffle Skewer, smoked syrup, turkey bacon

* Smoked Chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens, sweet potato puree

* Grilled pineapple upside down cake

We offer two seatings, one at 5:30 PM and 7:45 PM. Seating is limited to 20 diners per seating and each diner must purchase a ticket in advance. Tickets are non-refundable, but are transferable to another person for the same date. This is a FIXED menu, but with advance notice we can try to accommodate dietary requests.

Wine and beer will be available at an additional charge. Gratuity is not included in dinner price.
