Chef Marla Jadoonanan: Wednesday, July 24

50.00

Chef Marla Jadoonanan was born in the West Indies' village of Princes Town in Trinidad and Tobago. She grew up the youngest of 7 siblings. She learned to cook with the older ladies of town before coming to Minneapolis and starting a nursing career. After 18 years, she decided it was time to return to her love of cooking and opened Marla's Caribbean Cuisine in Minneapolis.

Her food features the full spicy flavors of the West Indies with a good dose of Indian-inspired curry. The restaurant won rave reviews, was featured on the Food Network’s "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and has won many local media awards. In June, the revered restaurant closed due to radically-rising rent, and hordes of frequent diners have been mourning since.

Fortunately for us, Chef Marla has agreed to come cook some of her signature dishes (think jerk chicken, curried shrimp or stewed oxtail) for us on Wednesday, July 24 at St. Croix Chocolate Company in Marine on St. Croix. It will be an authentic evening to remember!

Tickets are $50/person and must be reserved in advance (beverages and gratuity are not included).  Seatings are available at 5:30 and 7:45. Reserve your spot today online or call 651-433-1400 to pay by phone.
